A5D QUICK START

Build your first schedule

  1. Create or import a projectUse a blank project, sample, or P6 V25.12 XML.
  2. Set working timeOpen Project calendar from Add… or Tools… to set weekdays, hours and exceptions.
  3. Add schedule objectsUse WBS, Activity and Relationship controls; activity forms include optional constraints.
  4. Calculate the networkA5D validates logic and calculates dates, float, criticality and constraint results.
  5. Organize the scheduleUse View… → Layout settings to group, sort, filter, save, import or export a focused layout.
  6. Approve the planUse Tools… → Approve baseline to anchor the calculated revision without copying or overwriting it.
  7. Record progressUse Tools… → Update progress to set the status date, percent complete, actual dates and remaining duration.
  8. Review varianceRecalculate, then use Tools… → Compare schedule for baseline-to-current calendar-day variance.
  9. Change the viewUse WBS, Table, Gantt, Details, Comparison and XML without changing project data.
  10. Try a focused promptPreview “Add activity excavation for 2 days,” then approve it.
  11. Export and verifyExport XML, round-trip it through P6 Professional, then use Tools → P6 round-trip acceptance to compare and record evidence.
Important

A5D validates the supported XML structure and schedule meaning. External P6 acceptance is recorded only after a controlled round-trip and tester attestation.
